DV File Format
Digital Video (DV) is a digital video format launched in 1995, and, in its smaller tape form factor MiniDV, has since become a standard for home and semi-professional video production; it is sometimes used for professional purposes as well, such as filmmaking and electronic news gathering (ENG).
DV file is video clip from a digital video (DV) camera. Its standard format is saved to the DV tape which is used in most consumer digital camcorders and the current DV standards document is IEC 61834. DV is the format used by many digital camcorders, usually on Mini DV cassettes. Besides, this file can be imported into many video editing programs such as Apple iMovie, Final Cut Express, Final Cut Pro etc.
